Student sport

If you study at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, you can take part in a wide range of sports whatever your level or ability. You could join a club to keep fit and meet people, take part in inter-halls competitions, or be selected to represent the University.


The SU ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, our students' union, has over 40 sports clubs that students can join.

Sport Scholarships provide financial and training support to assist student-athletes in their ongoing sporting development alongside their academic studies.

Student-athletes get to train alongside the Olympic, Paralympic, World and Commonwealth Champions who are based at the world-renowned Sports Training Village.

Sport and fitness facilities

Our Sports Training Village is the centre of sports on campus. You can access the gym, book fitness classes and take part in sport, whether you're a student, member of staff or member of the public.


The pass is included in tuition fees for ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø students, providing free access to many sports facilities and activities on campus.

The Sports Training Village is open to students, staff and the public seven days a week, offering something for everyone - check out the facilities you can use.

The Team ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Gym & Fitness Centre has three gym zones, two studios and hosts dozens of exercise classes each week

The inspirational fitness space, open seven days a week on the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø campus, features more than 200 stations and state-of-the-art equipment.

Working with elite athletes

The men's 1st XV, sponsored by ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Building Society and Rengen, have been challenged to build on their historic 2025-26 league and cup double.

Seb Forrest and Ross Charlton took the men's relay title in China, while Pentathlon GB team-mates Kerenza Bryson, Emma Whitaker and Poppy Clark bagged bronze.

The Team ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Tennis ace has also broken into the world's top 100 for the first time after securing a first-ever Grand Slam main draw win at the US Open.

The ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø sporting scholar won all four of his events at the European Aquatics Championships, while recent graduate Kate Shortman bagged bronze.

Olympic Champions Matt Weston and Tabby Stoecker and fellow global gold-medallist Marcus Wyatt were inducted during a celebratory event at The Guildhall.

The accreditation recognises the University's role in supporting Olympic and Paralympic athletes to achieve success on the world stage.
